NEW NEWS
Early July '10: Still thinking about finishing last year's records. Prepping for a new addition to the extended family in November. Trying to put the rest of the pieces back together from various members moving away and moving on. More to come sometime soonish. In the meantime, here is a video for "Cucumber Calm", recorded by Anvil Salute sometime in 2009 or maybe 2008 and then put to film by Brad Fielder this year.

Late April '10: The Norman Music Festival is over. A good time was had. We played okay. Still working on the recordings from last year, and coming up with some new things to go along with those. More shows in the future... sometime.
Mid-March '10: Last minute note. Due to illness and unaccomodating schedules, the Anvil Salute diaspora will not be coming back to Norman this weekend. Given those problems, we'ce decided to cancel the show at MainSite this weekend. We will be rescheduling when everyone is more readily available. I think it will probably be this summer. We are going to be playing this year's Norman Music Festival. It's free, fun, and all ages. It starts Saturday, April 24 and lasts until Sunday, April 25. We're playing Saturday at 9pm at the Michelangelos stage. We plan to bring the chill. Also if you're keeping track, Brad Fielder, Anvil Salute drummer, is playing a solo set at 6pm at Michelangelo's as well.
March '10: Wow, it's been a long time to post anything here. I suppose it's been a long time since we've done much of anything.Well, strictly speaking, that's not quite true. People have moved. We've been recording, etc. We're still working on the two records from last year, but now we're getting closer to finishing them.... I swear. Maybe they'll be out by the end of the year. In the meantime, if you live nearby, you can come see us play on March 20, 2010. We'll be at MainSite. It's a free show. It starts early. We're collecting as many members past & present to play a special show. Special like Blossom.
Sept. '09: Reviews for Cosmic Yes. Read 'em, and don't forget about the Jack Rose Show in a couple of weeks at the Conservatory.
July '09: Cosmic Yes is finally out, and we're pleased as punch about it. Get it at House of Alchemy. Dream Magazine #9 is also finally out. We think Gabe sounds like a dork in the interview, but the song on complimentary CD is aces. You should pick up a copy of that too. We're still working on Black Bear Rug and another full-length follow-up one one of records. We have a show in September with Jack Rose. Good times.
April '09: We're in the middle of record a couple of new records. They are, without a doubt, the best sounding recording we've ever done. Multi-tracked sonic goodness, more of the same, tastes great, less filling. We even have a title for one of them. Look for "Black Bear Rug" to come out on some label sometime later this year.
Word on the street is Dream #9 will finally be out in the next couple of weeks. Pick it up here or wherever you can. It has a boatload of good stuff. At least some of this is in it: NZ singer/songwriter John White, UK legend Mark Fry, Oklahoma's own Anvil Salute, psychedelic pop wizards Phantom Buffalo, Poland's Brasil & the Gallowbrothers Band, Glenn Branca, Helena Espvall, Pantaleimon, Fire on Fire, Corbi Wright, Argentinian drumming legend Daddy Antogna interviewed by Anla Courtis, Ex-Reverie, Nevada City's Casual Fog, and the Moore Brothers, Boyd Rice, the art/music combo Snawklor, Red Favorite, underground singer/songwriter, Christian Jonassen, the UK's M. Jarvis/A. Jarvis, Bird By Snow, Pere Ubu's David Thomas, Fern Knight, the understated UK band Things in Herds, and comix pioneer Dan O'Niell, with possible interviews with Yoko Ono, Wllow Willow, Teasi and others still in the works...
Other happenings: two upcoming shows to talk about both with Metal Rouge. The first is in Norman, OK at Pepe Delgados. The doors open at 9P; the show kicks off at 10P. It should be fun. For those of you who live in Texas come out and see us in Fort Worth the next night. Friday, May 15, Metal Rouge, Anvil Salute, Shortwave Death System and Nevada Hill (from Zanzibar Snails) play at The Firehouse Gallery thanks to the metrognome collective.
March '09: We have a show at MAINSITE Contemporary Art Gallery, Friday, March 13th. It's free in all senses of the word. "Cosmic Yes" will be out sometime in April on House of Alchemy. Dream #9 should be out any day now. When it does, you should read our interview and listen to the track we have on the complementary/complimentary CD. Good times.
December '08: We're still working on those recordings, and we still in the upcoming Dream Magazine. We're getting closer though. Actually, "Cosmic Yes" will be released by the House of Alchemy shortly after the first of the year. Let's say, probably no later than February. The artwork has been decided upon. The final master is done. It's all a matter of shipping it off and getting it made. Those things take time, you know.
Last we checked, "Morphic Field Recordings" is still coming out some time, and we're excited about that. While we're on the subject of compilations, we completely let the release of the TEA-2 Compilation slip by us without so much as a fine how do you do. It came out early October in conjunction with the most recent Tea Party to help promote and support the Ptolemaic Terrascope. We're honored to help out in even such a small way. It's limited to 60 copies and comes in its own hand-knit cover. There might be a couple left.
October '08: We're currently working on a couple recordings. Look for our interview in the upcoming Dream Magazine. We're even on the free CD that comes with the issue. Next we have a track on the 4CD "Morphic Field Recordings", a compilation of long form improv and dada headfuckery coming out on PacificSoma.
And there's this:
THE SMALLEST JOY - Anvil Salute from Brad Fielder on Vimeo.
April '08: We're working on a few shows and some recordings. We had some reviews of our newest "This is the Voice of Doom Calling." The local newspaper says we're breaking up. That's just not true.
March '08: Apparently we don't update this page enough. So we've been roundly scolded for our lack of news. Bad on us. Aside from this here web page, you can reach out to us on both Facebook & MySpace. Be our friends, please. We will love you forever.
What else is happening? The band is working on new recordings. And there's one more show line dup before Todd gets married and moves to Bali. We're the first ever Norman Music Festival. It's free. It's exciting. It's a coup. We play around 5pm Saturday, April 26th at MainSite, and then we'll be followed by White Walls around 6:30pm. There's a bunch of other bands playing down the street all day too.
